Nikko Toshogu』is a shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu who established Edo Shougunate.
It was constructed in 1617 and further expanded by Tokugawa Iemitsu the third shogun.
Tokugawa Ieyasu’s remains are entombed here.
This is UNESCO World Heritage.

Now, several of the shrine’s many buildings are being renovated from 2007 to 2019.
The centrally placed Yomeimon Gate and two less important structures are currently being renovated.
The gate is covered by scaffolding.
