Sightseeing in Wakayama-city

Everyday many foreigners visit Wakayama to see a cat.
This cat is not normal cat.
I think she is the most famous cat in the world.
She is a station master of KISHI station, Wakayama dentestu!

Her name is “TAMA”.

This is KISHI station.

Cat shaped station♡

Her working day is Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm at Kishi station.

This cat also station master of IDAKISO station, Wakayama dentetsu.

Her is “NITAMA”.
She is in KISHI station on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm,
and from Tuesday to Friday, she is in IDAKISO station.
Hard working!

This train ” wakayama dentetsu kishigawa-line” run from JR Wakayama station to Kishi station.
It takes around 30 min from Wakayama station to Kishi station.

Girls’ festival

Tomorrow on 3rd of MAR. is Girls’ festival “HINAMATSURI” in Japanese.
The family who have a daughter display dolls like this.

This is a traditional style of dolls.
On the top, The Emperor and the Empress are displayed.
On 2nd, three court ladies,
On 3rd, five musicians,
On 4th, two ministers,
On 5th, three servants,
On 6th to 7th, furniture and food are displayed.

We start to display these dolls in February, and store them away immediately after the festival.
Because we believe that leaving the dolls will be result in late marriage for daughter.

Nomally we eat
small rice cracker

diamond shaped rice cake

chirashi-zushi

drink clam soup

and sake.

These are typical Girls’ festival style in Japan.

NTT East,one of the biggest telecommunications company in Japan,
starts to provide free wifi service for foreigners.
This is available for 14 days.
BUT! this service is available only in East of Japan like Tokyo, Hakone, Mt. Fuji, Yokohama, Nagano, Nikko, Kusatsu,Tohoku, Hokkaido…etc.
So you can not use this service in West of Japan Osaka, Kyoto, Nara,
Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Okinawa.

First, you have to download app　『NAVITIME for Japan Travel』 from App store or google play
before come to Japan.
Then once you reach in Japan, you have to obtain a card on which the ID and password
are written at Narita airport, Sapporo airport, Isetan Mitsukoshi department store…etc.

This is one of the biggest problem for tourists “lack of free wifi access”…
When I travel abroad, I always buy SIM card at airport.
Now you can buy SIM card in Japan but it is so expensive.
Moreover, lack of free wifi access…
Too bad!!

TRAVEL JAPAN Wi-Fi project has just started from last December.
You can use free wifi total 240,000 places in Japan at airport,starbucks…etc.
Many companies start up this project like Wi2(this is main telecommunications company),
Japan Airlines, Bic Camera, Kyoto-city, Kobe-city and JCB…etc.
To receive this service, You have to download application from Google Play or App Store.
Of course this application is free.
But there is limitation to use this wifi just download.
You can use only basic area.
But you get code from each company and input it, you can use wide area.
Also, you can receive useful information like shop voucher, sightseeing information etc.

The features of weather in Japan

Japan is a small country but weather is different from north and south.

This is a map.

This is a data from 1978～2007 shows average temperature and annual precipitation
in this 30 years. (refer to NOCS)

Average temperature in Sapporo is only 8.8℃(47.84°F）.
On the other hand, Okinawa is 23℃(73.4°F).
Nagano is famous for “HAKUBA”.　In winter, many foreigners and Japanese go there to enjoy ski.
In summer, many Japanese go to “KARUIZAWA” to enjoy cool summer due to high altitude.
Some rich people has a villa and stay here only in summer.
Japan is a very humid country so it gets really muggy in the summer…

There are rainy season in Japan from Jun to July.
And many typhoon hit Japan from June to October. Especially in August and September.
Most of Typhoon come from south of Japan so most of them hit Okinawa.
That’s why Okinawa has high precipitation.

It’s up to purpose but spring is the best season for tourists
because temparature is comfortable everywhere in Japanand less rain.
Also cherry blossom is so beautiful!
I love spring in Japan!!

I watched one TV program in Japan.
US people try to eat Japanese snacks and determine which is the best for US people.

No.5 “FU”

Brown sugar fluffy sweets of Japanese Fried-dough…It’s very difficult to explain.
Taste is sweet and inside is like a cotton candy.
Brown color is brown sugar.

No.4 “baby star ramen”

This is a chicken flavor dry noodle. You can eat noodle without hot water.

No.3 “Umai bo”

Everybody says ‘like cheetos!’

No.2 “Miyako kombu”

This is a kelp.
This is also difficult to explain… It is mixed sweet and sour taste.
Everybody says good for health.

No.1 “kinako bo”

This is a rice cake with soybean flour.
Japanese traditional sweets.
Sweet and healthy!

All snacks you can buy at convenience store like seven eleven, family mart, lawson etc.

Sightseeing in Ibusuki Kagoshima

Ibusuki in Kagoshima is famous for “Sand Steam Bath”.

This is sand steam bath.

People in sand!!　This is natural sauna!
Many foreigners visit ibusuki to take sand steam bath.
Natural hot water comes from under of the coast.

I tell you how to take sand steam bath.

1. Remove all of your clothes including undergarmnet and wear “Yukata” .
2. Lay face up on the sand.
3. After 10～15min goe out of the sand.
4. Take shower and get into a hot spring.

Let’s go to Ibusuki and get beauty!

You can go to Kagoshima by air,JR bullet train,ferry.

SAKURA Cherry blossoms in 2015

This is a cherry blossom forecast in 2015.

This forecast shows it is the time to start bloom.
Full bloom is 1st of week of April in Tokyo,Kyoto,Osaka and Fukuoka etc. except north part of Japan.
In this season, Many foreigners visit Japan every year to see sakura(cherry blossoms)!
I think this is the best season to come to Japan because temperature is comfortable and sakura is so beautiful.
